“Feelings come and go like clouds in a windy sky. Conscious breathing is my anchor.”
―Thich Nhat Hanh
Mindfulness is a practice. It’s about learning to be fully present in each moment of our lives, free from worries about the future, or sadness about the past, or frustrations over what someone said, or did, or may do.
As we begin to pay attention to and observe the events of our lives, we discover that we are no longer held hostage to them. There are no complicated methods to master, only the simple practice of paying attention to the present moment. This can be practiced with ease as we set the tone for each day, walking, interacting with loved ones, at work, preparing meals, washing the dishes.
Everything we do becomes a source of enrichment.
If you accept your feelings and look at them as important pieces of information – just like your sense of sight, and sound, and touch – and then begin to use this information along with the rest of your senses, your chances for a successful and happy life increase in wonderful and meaningful ways.
