What is Hypnosis?

Normal State of Consciousness

Hypnosis is a state of consciousness that we go in and out of all the time, very similar to daydreaming or  the sort of “twilight” state we experience just before falling asleep. Hypnosis is not new. Physicians have  been using it as far back as the 1800’s, and the American Medical Association and British Medical  Association have approved of this since 1958.

The hypnotic state is self-generated. It is a unique state of  suggestibility that only you, the individual, can induce. My role as hypnotherapist is to facilitate and guide you.  In this relaxed state, it is possible to contact higher aspects of ourselves, the wiser, more intuitive part that is inside all of us. You won’t do anything you really don’t want to, you’re aware of what’s going on around you, and you can remember what happens afterward.   All that’s needed to be successful are motivation and trust.

We think, analyze and rationalize with the conscious mind, but we are always influenced by the unconscious. Through hypnosis we access the unconscious mind, tapping into a powerful source of creativity – our imagination. This allows us to imagine and create the lives we want and dream about.

Working within a holistic framework of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels, one becomes self-empowered, able to recognize and manage stress levels and create a more balanced life. Hypnosis is a powerful tool to effect lasting change in the quality of a person’s life.
